Thanks to the Dry Bones cartoon (see above) for reminding us how fragile and unpredictable is the Middle East. President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton had better take these facts of life into account as they prepare for the Washington talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority regarding peace in the Middle East. In any case, the United States should be applauded for trying once more to settle the differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority so that a long term peace plan can be agreed to by all parties involved. Now that is a new Middle East policy that I can support. Finally, some words of caution. This has been tried before and unfortunately brought with it less peace than existed before it was attempted.
