Our President and our Secretary of State would do well to read and adopt this analysis and make it the official foreign policy of the United States.
There is absolutely no reason to force Jerusalem into being a divided city. A strong US policy declaring all of Jerusalem as the capitol city of Israel would go a long way towards breaking the stalemate in the Israeli/Palestinian deadlock.
