Early Warnings Ignored: September 11: A Decade Later :: Middle East Quarterly

Early Warnings Ignored: September 11: A Decade Later :: Middle East Quarterly (A Must Read Please Click Here)

Every once in a while the people of this country get a first hand look at how disgraceful is the ways things either get done or don't get done in Washington. The above cited scholarly analysis provides just such an opportunity. It's no wonder that most people in this country have such a low opinion of their Congress. The Congress of the United States has become a cesspool of deception, partisan self interest, greed and plain outright stupidity.

The more important lesson is asking the pertinent question; What have we learned from the mistakes the Congress of 10 and 20 years ago made over and over again??? Unfortunately for us, the present Congress has learned very little from their predecessors' mistakes. In fact, a strong case can be made that the present Congress is far worse when dealing with foreign policy decisions than the previous versions of Congress examined in the above report.

Compounding our problems is the fact that when the Congress is divided and disingenuous as described above, this creates a power vacuum which allows the White House to fill the vacuum with even more dangerous and incredibly stupid foreign policy decisions. I believe that President Obama's "Arab Spring" foreign policy is a clear case in point of these failures in Washington. Please remember that history is the best teacher. If we do not or cannot learn from our history, then we are doomed to make the same and even worse mistakes over and over again.
